*Seeks replacement of NNPCL boss
A coalition of support groups, on the aegis of Renewed Hope Interest Defenders, has lauded President Bola Tinubu for his reforms in the oil sector, saying it has helped to reposition sector for improved productivity.
The convener, Obed Agu, told journalists, in Abuja, that the President’s reforms, especially as it comes local refineries is already bearing fruits for the benefits of citizens.
“From February 2024 when the President signed three major executive orders which includes: The Presidential Executive Order 2024- (Oil and Gas Companies- Tax Incentives, Exemption, Remission) which introduces incentives, such as Tax Credits and exemptions on equipment for clean technologies like LPG and CNG to improve fiscal competitiveness.
“Presidential Directive on Local Content Compliance Requirements, 2024- aims to strengthen the use of local content within the oil and gas sector. Presidential Directive on Reduction of Petroleum Sector Contracting Costs and Timelines 2024- seeks to streamline contracting processes, removal of Subsidy, Support for Local refineries, crude to domestic refineries all of which are geared towards attracting investments; enhance Transparency, boost operational efficiency and increase local participation and benefits cutting delays, bringing back big investors and setting the stage for cheaper fuel and lower food prices.
“Nigerians will admit that the focus of the President is clear and the reforms at the top are beginning to make life easier with cheaper fuel, lower inflation, and real benefits for the ordinary Nigerian,” he stated.
The coalition, which later staged a peaceful protest at the headquarters of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), charged President Buhari to rejig the management of the company, for optimum performance.
Agu said “We trust the President’s mastery when it comes to issues like this. He knows what to do, and he acts swiftly and rises to the occasion when it is demanded. President Tinubu is the man who knows the way, shows the way, and leads the way. He has been undaunted by the challenges, and as a true leader, he has taken them head-on. That is why we support this President and call on all Nigerians to join hands and support him.”
