The Chief Executive Officer ( CEO) Crust Intercontinental Limited, Publishers of The Verge Newspaper, Adebiyi Adedapo, has felicitated with the Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, on the occasion of his 57th birthday.
Adedapo, in a statement, commended Governor Makinde for suspending activities, originally slated, for his 57th birthday celebration in honour of the children who lost their lives in the December 18 funfair stampede in Ibadan, the state capital.
The Abuja based journalist described the governor as a compassionate leader, true democrat, whose commitment to peace, unity, democracy and result oriented leadership has left an indelible mark on the state.
Adedapo also commiserated with the parents and relatives of the children, who lost their lives in the Ibadan funfair stampede, and implored security agencies to ensure that adequate safety measures are in place at similar gatherings to prevent future occurrences.
“I want to particularly commend the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for suspending the planned activities for his 57th birthday celebration in honor of the young souls unfortunately lost in the December 18 funfair stampede.
“Your Excellency’s selfless service and unwavering patriotism remain a beacon of hope and progress for Oyo State and Nigeria.
“I wish you many happy returns on your 57th birthday, and thank you for your service to humanity. May the good Lord bless and keep you in good health all the days of your life,” Adedapo stated.
He added “My heart and prayers also go to the parents and relatives of the departed children. I urge the relevant security agencies to intensify intelligence gathering and safety efforts to safeguard public gatherings, especially during the festive period.”
