House of Representatives has constituted a total of 66 friendship committees, as part of efforts to deepen its relationships with parliaments in different parts of the globe. 

The speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, disclosed this, recently, while receiving a delegation from the African Business Roundtable, at the National Assembly. 

Abbas, who noted that the 10th Assembly is committed to engaging more, with  other parliaments, stated that the friendship committees needed support to function effectively. 

According to him, “on July 27, we announced membership of 43 parliamentary friendship committees to find ways of improving our relations in terms of business and other aspects with them.

“Two weeks ago, we increased it from 43 to 65. We also included Serbia, making it 66.”

The House, apart from the 66 friendship committees, had equally constituted a total of 137 standing committees. Recall, that in the 9th assembly, the House had a total of 106 standing committees.
